Details
Take Provincial Highway 11 and follow the winding road, you will find Hualien Visitor Center at the northmost point of the East Coast scenic area. Located on the hill, the visitor center has exhibition rooms that showcase the natural and cultural resources in the area, as well as tourist attractions along the East Coast. There is also a multimedia briefing room with a capacity of 81 people. Visitors are encouraged to acquire information here before starting their tour of East Coast.

Hualien Visitor Center faces the vast Pacific Ocean, with an excellent view of the endless blue sea right in front of your eyes. Every April to May, longflower lilies bloom around the pond and hillside next to the visitor center. Follow the landscape trails, you can see the sea of flowers swaying in the breeze. The picturesque scenery is enchanting.

From the visitor center, head north and you can reach the Lingding Cape where the northern boundary of the Coastal Range is located. Here, you can enjoy the beautiful scenery of waves and swirls ("huilan") where Hualien River meets Pacific Ocean. For this reason, Hualien Port used to be named Huilan Port.
